The Academy Ballet School of Annapolis (ABSA) is the only Annapolis-based ballet school that follows the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Syllabus for classical ballet training. Directed and staffed by RAD certified and professionally trained teachers, we believe that consistent faculty and professional excellence in the teaching of classical ballet provide optimal student development in all dance forms. Experienced faculty who are committed both to teaching classical ballet and to the development of young dancers from preschool through adulthood are, and always will be, the cornerstone of the ABSA program.
The founder of ABSA, Eileen Razzetti, established her first ballet school in Severna Park in 1974. As her student base grew she relocated to Maryland Hall, a community-based fine arts center in historic downtown Annapolis in 1989, where classes are held to this day. In 2022, ABSA student and long-time teacher/choreographer Lindsay Zetter Lucas purchased school and became its new owner and Artistic Director.
Opportunities during the year include participation in our Mini Nutcracker, official RAD examinations, and our full-length story ballets in May. Our mission is to inspire and empower every child to embrace the joy of movement, and cultivate a love for dance, regardless of age or ability.
